'Fallen' is a romantic short film that explores the transgender experience through a tender and ethereal lens. As the gaffer on this project, I was tasked with creating both a glowy, halo inspired look, as well as an intimate void with a "soft spotlight", and to transition smoothly between them mid-take. Intentional postioning of the edge lighting gave our characters the desired halo effect. We rigged a mole richardson 1k softlite to the drop ceiling using a 2x4 piece of wood and shaped it into a "spotlight" with blackwrap to create a softer alternative to a traditional spot. All of our fixtures ran into one manual dimmer that allowed us to smoothly bring the first setup down, while our second setup came up.
